With Thanksgiving only 2 weeks away, we thought it was time for a post with recipes! Some of our favorites that we’ve shared in the past are particularly good around the holiday season. Go ahead and give any or all of these a try: pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, chocolate ginger cake, cranberry apricot walnut bread. They are simple and delicious. Yummm!
This year, we are serving dinner on Thanksgiving. Guests that are staying with us on Thursday, November 28, will have the option of having a full Thanksgiving dinner right here at our Maryland inn, at the reasonably not too late and not too early hour of 4pm. Feel free to bring your own bottle(s)! The turkeys come from Cedar Run Farm, the same place we get our eggs, sausage and bacon. Truly free range and antibiotic free birds! A lot of the ingredients for the rest of the dinner will be local and/or organic when possible.
By Dinner Series via Wikimedia CommonsThe menu will consist of the following traditional and healthy options:
Pumpkin Bisque
Chesapeake Bay Oysters on the Half Shell
Mixed green Salad
Roasted local, free-range Turkey
Traditional homemade Gravy and/or a healthier version Gravy
Sausage, Celery and Onion Stuffing and/or a healthier Wild Rice and Apple Stuffing
Cranberry – Orange – Maple Relish
Swiss style Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Sweet Potato Gratin
Lemon Green Beans and Braised Red Cabbage
Pumpkin Mousse Pie and/or a healthier Brampton Cranberry Bread
Just imagine it: a delicious dinner, a crackling fire, a nap, and no clean-up. What could be more relaxing?
For those guests who are not in town to visit family and would prefer to go out to eat, we have 2 choices for you this year.
Osprey Point in Rock Hall always has a beautiful fine dining menu planned and this year is no exception. 2 seatings: noon and 3pm. A few of our regular guests have made a sweet tradition of coming out to the Brampton and eating at the Osprey on Thanksgiving.
This year there will be a little friendly competition from the Lemon Leaf Cafe here in Chestertown. Ever since moving to their new location on High Street, about one and a half miles from the inn, the Lemon Leaf has been feeding a steady stream of our guests and they all come back full and happy. They will be serving several of their signature appetizers, a carving station with ham, pork and turkey, and lots of sides. Seatings at noon, 2, 4, and 6pm. Be advised that their website is not up to date; they’ve been really busy with their move!!
Whether you’re visiting us or visiting friends and family, we hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving day, wherever you eat!
