About the Inn

Our Maryland Inn is a proud member of Select Registry. We aim to serve delicious straightforward food with an emphasis on simple artistry. Brampton sits on 35 acres in a pastoral setting surrounded by lush landscape and forests on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The inn is less than two miles from the Arts and Entertainment center of Chestertown, the Mid-Atlantic’s most charming historic town.

Meet Our Innkeeping Team

Former Innkeeper Danielle Hanscom Thode and her late husband Michael Hanscom turned a private manor house into the award-winning, 13 room, Brampton Inn in 1987.

Innkeepers David and Hilari Rinehart acquired the Inn on August 24 2020 and are skillfully supported in this endeavor by pastry and breakfast chef Carole Baxter, and an incredibly capable staff dedicated to continuing the Brampton tradition of:

  • Peace and Tranquility
  • Unconditional Hospitality
  • Fine Food
  • Comfortable Accommodations

A Tradition of Excellence

Brampton is a beautiful retreat for our guests where peace and tranquility, gracious hospitality, fine food, and comfortable accommodations are at the forefront of everything we do. That is what we fell in love with as guests and our expectations were exceeded with every visit. We decided that if we could do the same in our next chapter in life, we could positively impact others the way we were. Dave brings his uncanny ability to make people feel welcome and part of the family. Hilari’s attention to detail ensures that every element is attended to and our guests have the best possible experience. We are so excited to be caretakers of Brampton and continue its traditions and we look forward to welcoming you for years to come.
