What You Need to Know About the Chestertown, Maryland, Farmers Market
About the Market
Located in downtown Chestertown’s beautiful Fountain Park, the town’s namesake farmers market provides visitors and locals alike with homegrown produce, herbs, bread, plants, soaps, and so much more. At this vibrant event, there are also several local artisans selling their unique, handmade goods.
The Chestertown, Maryland, Farmers Market is an incredible way to purchase high-quality food, support local farmers, and experience something truly unique. Eliminating the mediation of extensive food transportation, packaging, and marketing ensures that the people responsible for growing the food receive the biggest profit. This way, unnecessary fossil fuel emissions are also avoided. Finally, shopping at our farmers market ensures that your food is responsibly grown and perfectly ripened! Aside from delicious local food, you may even stumble upon a one-of-a-kind, handmade gift for someone you love (or yourself).
The Chestertown, Maryland, Farmers Market Schedule
Beginning around the third Saturday morning in March, the Chestertown Farmers Market becomes a weekly staple on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It begins every Saturday morning thereafter at 8 a.m. and ends at noon. Our market spans all of the Eastern Shore’s beautiful seasons—expect a full farmers market each week until the end of December (the Saturday before Christmas).
If you’re in town during the holiday season and long for the jovial atmosphere and local produce of the usual Saturday market, you’re in luck! Chestertown hosts a smaller, weather-permitting winter market during the chillier months. There are less vendors at this installment, but it’s still a great way to spend a winter’s day, cup of hot cocoa in-hand. We recommend checking out the winter market, then attending a holiday event like our Christmas Reading and High Tea celebration!
