Whether you love craft brews or just want something fun to explore, our list of Maryland’s Eastern Shore top 5 breweries and distilleries is worth a visit.

So, come along and discover the incredible flavors of the Eastern Shore.

1. Bad Alfred’s

323 High St, Chestertown
Taproom Hours
Wed – Thu: 5-8:30pm
Fri – Sat: 12-8:30pm
Sun: 11am – 3pm

Bad Alfred’s is nestled in the heart of Chestertown. Al and Jennifer Cassinell began creating their small-batch beers in 2018. Their offerings include cocktails and wood-fired pizza, in addition to their variety of spirits and craft beers. Patrons get an insider’s view from the dining room and bar by looking through to the glassed-in distillery. Private tours and tastings are also available.

Their signature spirits include Bad Alfred’s Rye Whiskey, Bourbon Whiskey, Grappa, Jen’s Gin, and more. Since craft beers are produced in small batches, you’ll need to check to see their draft list for current selections. With such a variety of house-made drinks, you will surely find something that will soon become a favorite.

Of course, Bad Alfred’s is our favorite—it’s right in our backyard here in Chestertown. Al’s Raspberry Blonde is the best on a hot summer’s day. His spirits are also excellent—especially his bourbon used in Al’s Manhattan. Great drinks, the best wood-fired pizza in town, plus Al and Jennifer are the best hosts. We love it here.

2. Patriot Acres Farm Brewery

1621 Millington Rd, Sudlersville
Taproom Hours
Thu & Fri: 408pm
Sat & Sun: 12-6pm

This unique veteran-owned farm and brewery grows its own hops and other ingredients used in the brewing process. Selections vary based on what’s currently brewing.

They have a variety of farm animals roaming about as you sip and savor a cold brew. You’ll see chickens, sheep, goats, alpacas, and more. Visitors here get the authentic farm-to-pint experience.

It’s a great way to relax, have some fun, and enjoy a great craft beer.

3. Lyon Rum // Windon Distilling

605 S Talbot St Unit 6, St Michaels
Shop Hours
Mon – Fri: 11am – 5pm
Sat: 11am – 6pm
Sun: 11am – 4pm

With over a decade of creating quality spirits, Lyon Rum is a must-try! They are true to the rich, spirited traditions of the Eastern Shore. Their signature rum is made from 100% Louisiana sugar cane and molasses. It’s ”hand-crafted—mashed, fermented, and double-distilled in small batches.” This distillery takes its rum and spirits seriously. The team is passionate and dedicated to producing and distributing the best rum on the Eastern Shore. We encourage you to visit their shop and try a sampling. Our favorite is Sailors Reserve.

4. Bull & Goat Brewery

204 Banjo Ln Suite E, Centreville
Taproom Hours
Wed – Fri: 3-9pm
Sat: 2-9pm

Like so many breweries, the Bull & Goat began as a weekend hobby that morphed into a thriving brewery. You’ll love their slogan—“Little Town Brewery, Big Town Taste.” Jeff Putman, one of the owners, claims the “goat” due to being ornery. His brewery partner, Jake Heinbuch, is the “bull” because he’s bull-headed. These two are long-time friends and have worked together in the watercraft industry.

In their taproom, which used to be the oldest working courthouse in Maryland, you’ll experience an abundance of laughter along with their excellent brews. Raft Up is a great summer option. They also make whiskeys (American-style), rums, and tequilas. A few local liquor stores sell cans of their beer if you can’t get to the taproom for a sip. Everyone is sure to find a brew to satisfy their tastes.

5. Ten Eyck Brewing Company

205 Grange Hall Rd, Queenstown
Taproom Hours
Mon & Tue: 3-9pm
Wed & Thu: 12-8pm
Fri & Sat: 12-10pm
Sun: 12-8pm

Ten Eyck Brewing Company is quite unique. A group of local women veterans and first responders joined forces to build it “from the ground up,” literally. The brewpub’s founder is from the Ten Eyck family and loves the meaning of this Dutch phrase—“at the oak.” Their mission is to create a safe community for friends and family to gather “at the oak” for a delicious hand-crafted beer.

Ten Eyck offers a wide range of beers, from hoppy IPAs to rich stouts. Their list of beer, cider, and seltzer changes regularly. Be sure to check their current list before you go.
