The Museums of Kent County

Did you know that Kent County is home to nine (9) museums?  And that you can visit all of them in one day??  Talk about getting your dose of culture…It’s yet another answer to that often asked question:  “What is there to do in Kent County?”

They are, in no particular order:

Geddes-Piper House, home of the Historical Society of Kent County. In downtown Chestertown, less than 2 miles from the Brampton Inn.

Kent County Farm Museum, preserving Kent’s agricultural heritage.  About 8 miles from the inn.

Rock Hall Museum, documenting this bayside town’s culture and traditions. 10 miles from the inn.

Tolchester Beach Revisited, also in Rock Hall, a tribute to a bygone era.

Waterman’s Museum, another Rock Hall attraction, focusing on the bay and the water-men & women who live & work on it.

African-American Schoolhouse Museum, showcasing the lives and contributions of Kent County’s African-American community. About 6 miles from the inn.

Massey  Air Museum, early aviation. 20 miles from the inn.

Charles Sumner G.A.R. Hall,  one of only two African American Civil War veterans’ halls standing in the United States. Downtown Chestertown.

Cliffs Schoolhouse, 125 year old one room schoolhouse in remarkable condition. About 10 miles from the inn.
