A very easy and quick way to make something special for the holidays or anytime of the year.
Make it a gift:
Yields approx. 3 cups.
¾ cup granulated sugar
4 Tablespoons Vanilla Sugar
2 tablespoon cornstarch
8 ounces dark chocolate 60%, roughly chopped
1 cup cocoa powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
Combine ingredients in a food processor and blend until chocolate is finely chopped.
Pack it into “one cup” mason jars. Close with top and decorate to your heart’s content with a piece of fabric or ribbons. Don’t forget to label the jar and add a “how to use” card.
How to use:
Heat one cup of milk per person (or any type of milk such as oat, rice, coconut, almond or soy) in a saucepan over medium heat until hot. For every cup of milk add 3 tablespoons hot cocoa mix.
Thoroughly whisk another minute or two, until it barely begins to simmer and chocolate mix is completely dissolved and thick.
Serve in mug(s) topped with mini-marshmallows or a dollop of whipped cream but it’s pretty rich without it.
You could make the following changes to shake it up a bit. Add to the dry chocolate mixture before mixing it in the food processor the following:
2 teaspoon of cinnamon or
2 Tablespoons of instant espresso or
2 Tablespoons finely grated orange peel
Enjoy!
