There is a lot to do in September 2012 in and around Chestertown Md:
First, the Festivals:
Saturday, September 15, 11am to 6:30pm, marks the return of the Chestertown Jazz Festival. An all day music festival at Wilmer Park, with the incredible harmonicist Frederic Yonnet headlining. Our Chestertown Md inn wrote about Yonnet last fall, so here’s another chance to catch him, as well as several other terrific jazz acts.
Next, down the road a piece in Easton, September 20-23, the 5th Annual Chesapeake Film Festival. (Last year’s lineup included a film that the Brampton Inn had a tiny, tiny, bit part in!) The line-up of films is impressive, with lots of documentaries that look fascinating. And Easton is a very cool town with lots of great restaurants, about 45 minutes from Chestertown.
Next, the Fun:
Take it to the streets on Friday, September 28, as the Garfield Center for the Performing Arts invites the community to a block party celebrating the anniversary of their opening one year ago. There will be food, music, and games and “surprises”.
Then, there are two different opportunities to have fun on the water:
On Friday and Saturday, September 14 and 15, and again on Saturday, September 22, go for a two hour public sail on the Schooner Sultana, the reproduction 18th century educational sailing vessel that calls Chestertown home.
Or for something a little different, how about a moonlight kayak paddle? Friends of Eastern Neck have organized a full moon paddle on Saturday, September 29 from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Participation is limited to 24 people, so if you’re interested, please make sure to make your reservations early.
Whew…that’s a lot of fun! Hope to see you out there or at our Chestertown bed and breakfast!
