It’s no secret that bicycling on the Eastern Shore of Maryland is one of our favorite fun activities in Maryland. The slightly rolling rural landscape is perfect for those looking for an active getaway. The upper Eastern Shore is dotted with family farms, and all roads lead to the Chester River and many other tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay.
For the past 10 years we have been hosting the participants of a bike tour company four times a year. We love the folks at Carolina Tailwinds! Along the way we perfected our breakfast offerings for cyclists needs. It does include bananas 🙂 and an earlier start. We have also been hosting groups of friends who come here to bike and are happy to organize an Eastern Shore crab feast during the summer months. It is the perfect way to end an active day. A popular getaway package we have available for the active couple is the “Putt, Paddle and Pedal”. It includes golfing, kayaking, biking and lots of wonderful food, including our guest favorite Eastern Shore crab feast.
Of course we have bike maps available to our guests — from an easy 5 mile to a more ambitious 80+ mile tour. For instance, one of the favorite rides from the inn will bring you along back roads past St. Paul’s church, through Rock Hall, then on to the Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge. Another popular tour in the summer is from the inn to Betterton Beach. Take a dip in the Chesapeake Bay, have lunch at Barbara’s on the Bay, one of our favorite restaurants in the area, and bike back to Brampton.
We can pack you a picnic to take along or tell you where you can find the best places for a tasty lunch. We are always happy to share our knowledge of the area so that you won’t miss the best vistas and places to see.
Bring your bikes! You won’t be sorry you did.
