Rain, rain go away!

It’s been a wet Spring to say the least in our neck of the woods. Although the garden is the most beautiful it has ever been we are looking forward to some drier days. Manick, our gardener, has been working her magic and the place looks spectacular. The birds are very happy too.

Thank goodness I didn’t miss the strawberry season like last year. Carole and I made 26 quarts of jam this year. Scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream is a must have during the holiday season in December. The raspberries have already made an appearance on our breakfast menu.  We are looking at a bumper crop growing in our garden. We like to freeze some for Winter too. They are such a treat on homemade yogurt and granola.

The 4th of July weekend is almost here and we are getting ready for our “Red, White and Blue” party. Snacks and cold beer will be on hand for our guests.  Nobody has to leave the property because we have a grand view of the Chestertown fireworks right from our back yard. It’s always a lot of fun.

Have a wonderful Summer!
