This Sunday April 27 marks the 7th Annual Taste of the Town in Chestertown, MD, a smorgasbord of local chefs, local food, local wine, and local beer, all up for grabs (well, except for the chefs!) downtown in Fountain Park. Over the years it’s really grown into a popular event for locals and visitors alike. There are contests, raffles, an auction. And food; did I mention food??
And for the second year in a row, some of the chefs will be participating in feature called “Diced!” – modeled after the TV chow “Chopped!” – preparing dishes on the fly from ingredients out of a “mystery basket” supplied by some local farmers.
We always tell our guests how lucky we are to have so many fine restaurants in such a small area…and it really is true. Here is a chance to sample dishes from just about all of them in one day!

The Kitchen at Rock Hall, Brooks Tavern, the Imperial Hotel, Evergrain Bread Company, the Lemon Leaf Café, the Inn at Osprey Point, the Fish Whistle, Two Tree Restaurant, and Uncle Charlie’s Bistro and many other caterers, farmers, brewers and wineries.
If you’re staying with at our Maryland bed and breakfast on that Sunday, it’s one of the only mornings we might recommend eating a lighter than usual breakfast! The Taste of the Town is from 12pm to 3pm so you can nibble your lunch slowly all afternoon. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon. Try a local beer or a glass of wine and then, think of the incredible nap you could have after all that tasting!
